The Diocese of Calgary Anglican Church Women minitries recently celebrated 125 years of service. All women who attend Anglican Churches in Canada automatic members of A.C.W. whether they attend meetings or not. Rev. Betty Piwowar is the Diocese Chaplin.’ Our purpose is to unite all women in a fellowship of worship, learning and service which will deepen their personal relationship with Jesus Christ, affirm their gifts and encourage the development of their ministries.
We hold 2 major fundraisers a year, a Mother’s Day and a Christmas Luncheon and Market where we all help to prepare soups, sandwiches and desserts. The funds raised enables us to make donations not only to Vestry and other St. Michael’s ministries, but also to our many other outreach projects.
The A.C.W. supports: the Library at the College of Immanuel and St. Chad, -packing personal care bags in conjunction with the Mountain Cabin Quilt Guild for Banff Y.W.C.A. Emergency Shelter in Banff,- Bridge House in Banff,- Hearts & Hands,- Crossways back to school and winter jacket programs,- Food & Friends,- Alpha,- Vacation Bible School projects,- Bow Valley Walk a Mile in Her Shoes,- Christmas Spirit,- Girl Guides and Pathfinders- Elizabeth Short’s ministry in Morley.
Meetings are held in the Upper Room for all women to take care of the business of taking care of others.
