Community Food and Friends Dinners offer a safe place for people from all segments of society, to come together every Monday evening, 52 weeks a year, to enjoy the pleasure of a free, attractive, nutritious meal in a beautiful setting, with friends and neighbours. This dinner serves 300 - 400 consumers per week, providing over 100,000 meals since being initiated in 2013.
Food and Friends brings together a diverse group of community-minded volunteers, increasing connectedness.
Truly a community effort, financial support from our community includes, but is not limited to; Bow Valley Food Bank, Save On Foods, 100 Women Who Care, Canmore Rotary Club, Food Box, JK Bakery, Tim Horton's, Canmore Lions Club, Boston Pizza, Wandering Elk, Origins, Windtower Lodge, Canmore Appliances and many more, significantly enhancing the lives of many in our community.
This is not a soup kitchen approach toward feeding hungry people, but a community event that provides good nutrition, enhances food security, and brings about social cohesion.
Food And Friends is strongly aligned with all the goals of the Town of Canmore Strategic Plan. We offer services to people and families from diverse backgrounds, of different ages, interests, values, skills and social and economic means; all are welcome. St. Michael's Anglican Church has a legacy of service to its community. Located in the town centre, St. Michael's strives to be a safe place for everyone, helping to integrate newcomers into Canmore.
